Low, Down, & Salty

Low, Down, & Salty

CONCEPTUALIZE THIS

It’s 2003, you’re Kurt Walter and you’ve got a bizarre, no wait, genius idea for a 1978 XS650 custom build. Did it happen? Yes. That same year? Let’s just say closer to a decade later… Regardless, we can look at it today and clearly say “You’ve come a long way, baby”.

THE EVOLUTION OF THE XS ALLURE

Never mind the frosted tips or the look in Kurt’s eyes that say ‘safety is no accident’, look at that torch!

Behold! The blazing beginnings of what would later become the boss we know today as

‘Low Down & Shifty'.

HOOSIER DADDY

Slowly but surely, she became something none of us would have initially expected. Shifty became the overbuilt to imperfect perfection, 750cc honed machine we gawk at today. She became an ICON.

OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!

When Shifty was completed in 2013, we had no idea how far she’d make it into the future. Even Dr. Seuss couldn’t tell you the places this bike would go. We love the saying “Just gonna send it” and that we have. This bike has been around. You’ve seen the stills gracing the internet and magazines alike here and there the past 10 years. But if not, feast your eyes.

SALT OF THE EARTH

Fast forward to 2022 where we’ve resurrected Low Down & Shifty from her ornamental slumber to be brought to some of the most desolate and brutal terrain that only the Bonneville Salts Flats can provide.

So now she sits, covered in the remnants of salt and misspent dreams. Worked, worn, but little worse for the wear. And of course, she’s for sale.
